Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a Civil Engineering degree to learn AutoCAD?
No, you do not need an engineering degree to learn the software. Many successful draftsmen come from diverse backgrounds. However, having a basic understanding of measurements and geometry is very helpful.
Will we learn 3D modeling?
Yes, Module 6 provides a robust introduction to AutoCAD's 3D workspace. We will cover how to extrude 2D floor plans into basic 3D structures and navigate isometric views. (Note: For photorealistic rendering, specialized software like 3ds Max is typically used later).
What software version is used?
We teach using recent versions of AutoCAD (2020-2024). The core command structure of AutoCAD rarely changes, so the skills you learn will be applicable to almost any version you encounter in an office.
Do I need my own laptop with AutoCAD installed?
For offline students at our Viva Technologies center, we provide fully equipped lab systems for your practice. However, having a personal laptop is highly recommended for practicing assignments at home. We will guide you on how to access the free Autodesk Student License.
